Hey, check out my new role! 🎉 I’ve decided to step back from executive life to get hands-on again. I’ll be leading a new team at Klue whose mission will be to capitalize on our recent acquisition of DoubleCheck Research. 🤘🚀 Klue’s platform + DoubleCheck’s Win-Loss analysis = 🔥🔥
Besides being a great fit with my background in building software for market research, I expect this change to recharge the batteries for me personally. I’ve been happiest at work when having a hand in the design, coding and operation of the software we build. Conversely I can burn myself out on the management side of the job, especially when lacking deep familiarity with the systems our teams own. This will be the third time in my career I’ve shifted my focus back to building in some form. While I inevitably end up drifting back into more management heavy roles, I’m excited about resharpening my skills in the meantime and delivering value to our customers.

Leaving AWS wasn’t an easy decision for me (thanks again everyone at AWS Thinkbox). I’ve been watching/cheering on Klue for a few years though, and having worked with co-founder Jason Smith I had a huge amount of trust in his vision and leadership. That said, I think it took seeing Klue “in person” before knowing just how right this decision was.

Super excited to be in #Prague this week recruiting for #aws #thinkbox! This is a beautiful city (and a cool office). I’m looking forward to meeting our candidates and hopefully attracting even more great talent to the growing pool of world class software developers in #Winnipeg.
